The Bigger Picture

Getting Inspired to Dream Again

What’s Your Story?

We all have a pivotal point in our lives that brought us to the place we are physically, spiritually, and emotionally. We all have a story; a story that may have brought us to our faith, changed our lives for the better, or gave us a sense of hope in our lives. No matter who you are, I want to get to know your stories…so what did this moment look like for you? What sparked that passion you have in your heart for that particular dream? What is your why?!

Personally, I have always been a dreamer. I’ve always had something I really loved to do and dreamed to do in life. Sometimes we let society dictate how we do certain things or determine if we are even capable to do those things. I’m here to tell you that NOTHING is impossible, if we believe that the God of the impossible is able to do immeasurably more than our hearts and minds can comprehend!! It has taken some time for me to realize this, but to live out your purpose it is going to take faith and BOLDNESS to go against all norms. So are you all ready for it?! To approach the “Bigger Picture” in a bold, fearless, and faith filled way! Share your story with me and others around you to remind yourself why you started!!

“It starts with a dream, persists with a vision, and then it becomes your reality” -The Bigger Picture

The Battle of The Mind

I don’t know if you guys were aware, but there’s a constant battle happening daily. This is not a physical battle, but a battle of the mind. It’s something we don’t tend to think much about, yet it plays a big part of our everyday lives. Our mind can be our weapon or our biggest enemy if we allow it to be. It’s what we allow to be processed into our thinking, that affects the decisions and outcomes in our lives. It’s time, that we as dreamers on a mission, and a journey to train our thoughts to be set on what is: positive, hopeful, faith-filled, trusting, and prospering to acheive the best life that we can!

We all have those days, you know the days I’m talking about. The days where we feel completely unmotivated to do anything and we put the worst possible thoughts into our minds. As a young adult , it is easy for me to find the negatives in current situations because there is such a long road ahead. I know that this is something that we all have gone through. I want to encourage you all to switch your thoughts from “I can’t to I can“, from failure to faith, and from earthly accomplishments to the impossible with God! This is going to be a process, but it is a process that will be beneficial and the ultimate game changer in our lives as we push towards “The Bigger Picture”….Let’s keep striving, it starts with our minds!!

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” Romans 12:2

Set Your Sights

What’s the first thing that you think about when you wake up in the morning? Is it what you’re going to do for the day, worries of yesterday, or is it a hopeful attitude that something great can happen in that day? Whatever it may be, I want to encourage you all that your mind is a powerful tool that can bring positive outcomes into your life or it can produce discouragement from negative thoughts. Where are you looking for the hope you need to keep you going throughout your journey? It’s time to set our sights on what really matters!

It is extremely difficult to focus on what is lovely and hopeful when there’s a world around us filled with chaos and discouragement. It is still a process, a process that we all go through daily, but we do have a choice. God says that “His peace will guard our hearts and minds through Jesus” (Philippians 4:7), that’s our HOPE! I try to start everyday with a good scripture to remind me that I don’t have to depend on the world for my hope, my attitude is changed the moment I enter into a loving, life giving Presence. I want that for all of you as well. As we continue through our journey we WILL have times where we feel doubtful, unmotivated, and hopeless, but it is important that we remember Who set that dream in place and why we started! Read, listen, and meditate on encouragement daily, it is essential to our journey towards “The Bigger Picture”.

“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain” Hebrews 6:19

Sand Timers

We get ONLY one of the same year, same day, and same moment. The big question that lies between that is: How are we utilizing it? It is so easy for us to let our days slip away from us, without a bit productivity or an ounce of investment into our dreams. I want to encourage you guys that THIS IS OUR year dreamers, believers, and go-getters, our year to make our dreams a reality or start up a new dream!

I challenge you guys in this year to dream a bigger dream. I know you may be thinking “okay what’s next?” Well, after that you should live like it’s already yours! That means putting in the time and effort towards making it happen. I know we have days where we get discouraged or we may feel like our efforts aren’t making progress and aren’t getting recognition. Just remember, we have a Father in heaven who sees and knows your heart and if you will just choose this year and beyond to trust that He wants what you want, then He will do the UNIMAGINABLE in your life!

“For I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness.
I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” Isaiah 43:19

2018: The Year of Big Faith and Bigger Dreams

Hey awesome people. It’s been a few weeks since I’ve posted, but that just means something great is in preparation. Just in case you’ve left 2017 with pondering thoughts on how THIS year will go, let me refresh your thinking. First, think of ALL of the obstacles you’ve overcome in 2017. Next, what about the goals you actually worked towards and accomplished? Also, every single day that you’ve made it through? Now that should be something worth smiling about. Although it may not have been perfect, something great came out of it: growth, persistence, endurance, new perspectives, and humility. Now, here’s the great news: IT’S ONLY THE BEGINNING! 2017 was the prep stance for the race, and this year we are taking this relay full force!

One thing I can reassure you about is that your dreams do NOT just have to be dreams, they CAN become your reality, and I will tell you how:

  • With Faith in God (I’m talking huge faith, this means taking risks and stepping out to take action, trusting that He is on your side)
  • Consistency (It is key, it is the key that keeps the motor (your dreams) going, if you remain consistent in the pursuit of your goals then anything will be achievable for you!)
  • Surround Yourself with People Who Want the Dream Just as Much as You (With every great leader comes someone beside them pushing, encouraging, and rooting for them to go higher. We all need people to challenge us or we will remain stagnant, and to encourage us to keep going. So, let’s check our circle of friends and/or mentors!)
  • Effort (This means promoting yourself, getting yourself out there! No matter what dream your pursuing it starts with reaching the people, so there are many ways to get ourselves out there through: social media platforms, family, friends, and good ole fashion community service)
  • Remember Your “Why” (So, we all have a reason why we desire what we desire, but as dreamers on a journey towards a Bigger Picture, we must remember that our dreams don’t have to be just about us, we CAN change the world! Having a God honoring, impacting dream can will make our lives even more significant and fulfilling)

2018 is our year dreamers, let’s go and change the world one dream at a time as we journey through 2018, let us keep God at the forefront, others second, and our dreams alive !!! #TheBiggerPicture

” Those who are devoted to God will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon” Psalm 92:12

Long Road, Beautiful Path

Ever heard the quote: “Life is a climb, but the view is great”? If so, you may have thought it was cliche or wasn’t true. Honestly, it isn’t a false statement, but with God we get a good spin at the end of the “climb”; there is a reward. Our journey may look long and dreadful, but if you look around you at the small accomplishments, the growth, and the excitement of the change taking place you’ll realize that you are in a good place! That LONG ROAD makes way for a BEAUTIFUL PATH!

This past week I discovered an unveiling truth about our process or journey through life, that just because we are stuck in one place or feel hurt/ defeated we aren’t meant to stay in that place. God is using and working EVERYTHING for our good, if we just trust him completely through His process of shaping us into who we are meant to be. So, don’t look at every attack , every defeat , or every failure as a fail at life. The reward is greater than the pain and if we can just enjoy the moment and look at the beautiful path ahead; it is there that we will find our true contentment and live out the best life in store for us!

Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand. John 13:7

Open Book

Hey awesome people! I just wanted to share some good news to you all today. Your life is just beginning and everyday is a new page in the God’s book of life for you! God is continuously writing, modifying, and shaping your story together for His “bigger picture”. Just when you thought that failure was the end, that dream was dead and gone, or that opportunity missed, that’s just God saving that for a different page of your life. So, let your life be an OPEN BOOK, for God to freely modify and make things better in your life. Your story is still being written!

I know how it is, trying to keep your faith while pursuing that dream, and believing it will happen, while living in a society that tells you to be more “realistic”. Yes it is good to be alert and taking in account your reality, but faith plus trust opens up billions of amazing things that God CAN do in your life. If only we would let Him, he will reveal those pages to us. I encourage you all, no matter what life looks like for you in this season of life to let your life be open to God. Let him search, and correct those errors in that page so that you can move to the next page of life more intentionally! He will do it for you if only you let Him.

Instead, You direct me on the path that leads to a beautiful life.
As I walk with You, the pleasures are never-ending,
and I know true joy and contentment.” Psalm 16:11

The Dream Team (Us+God)

We were never meant to do life alone. So, we have our family that were chosen by God, friends, and even pets that give us some kind of companionship and love. The greatest relationship we will ever have of course is our relationship with our Father. As we journey towards “The Bigger Picture” for our lives and continue to invest in our dreams the best duo to complete our “dream team” is us and God the ultimate hope, miracle, and amazing Father!

I’ve always had a set of best friends, we always feel unstoppable together. As I got closer to God I realized that He was the One I truly wanted on my team that will ALWAYS be there! So, as we pursue different callings and you feel in doubt or discouraged, just remember that God is always with us and always wanting the very best for His children. He’s got you in the palm of His hands, looking out for you like your personal point guard. You will NEVER lose with God on your team!

Challenge for the week: Write out a list of plans and goals you have, say it out loud ( God is always listening) , and even tell Him your fears and doubts. Watch Him get to work in your life as you give it all to Him.

“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31

Speak Life

We’ve all been discouraged. We’ve all had days that we were just at our lowest. In that moment we either chose to embrace that or change our thoughts to something positive. We have a choice every day: to speak life (speak positive things into existence) or to speak negativity into your life. Words matter and whether we know it or not, we have the ability to change our world with speaking LIFE into ourselves and situations as well as into others.

I remember the saying ” sticks and stones…” , and well, you know the rest. That quote as I have learned is the exact opposite. Words can hurt or it can heal. Words have an impact and can affect your future. What you speak today could be a outlet to what happens later in life. So as we journey through the “Bigger Picture”, we should be careful to choose our words wisely. What are you saying that will benefit you or others? What can you do better to improve the words you speak ? How can you better control negative words that try to creep in? Let’s remember to speak love and life as we continue to pursue our dreams of impact. That means no gossip , no negative words about ourselves or others, and more LOVELY , LIFE giving words!

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.  Ephesians 4:29
